Thomas Dunn, Chairman at Orbian, is named Working Capital Champion at the 2022 Working Capital Awards in Amsterdam
The award for Working Capital Champion 2022 goes to Thomas Dunn, chairman at Orbian, for his consistent advocacy of the benefits of supply chain finance when many less-informed voices were doubting it.
Alongside the challenges of the Covid pandemic, the last few years have seen the fallout from Greensill threaten to undermine the huge value that SCF can bring to businesses.
With the market often facing increased scrutiny, Dunn has been on hand to argue the case for the sensible use of supply chain finance and to highlight the gulf between true SCF and some of the dubious financial practices that have borrowed its clothes. “Whenever a sensible, moderate and authoritative voice in favour of supply chain finance is called for – Tom is always there,” said one observer.
Dunn has over 30 years of experience in financial services. He joined Orbian in 2006 and helped transform the company from a minor player into a solidly profitable, fast-growing provider of supply chain finance.
Prior to joining Orbian, Dunn worked for 16 years at JP Morgan in London, Melbourne, Sydney, and Tokyo. He is also the chairman of Raglan Capital, a Bermuda-based private equity firm. He has a MA degree in Economics from Cambridge University.
Orbian was first established in 1999 as a joint venture between SAP and Citibank. It became an independent company in 2004 after being bought out by a group of private investors. The company is headquartered in Carlsbad in California, with offices in London and Munich.
