Orbian Recognized for Outstanding Crisis Leadership

Global Finance, November 2020

Global Finance has announced its selections for the Banks and Corporations that displayed Crisis Leadership in 2020 and we are honoured and proud to be part of this selection. This program recognizes banks and companies that went above and beyond in responding to the global pandemic crisis.

“This past year, the world has faced a challenge unlike any in recent history, one that puts both lives and livelihoods at risk. Many private-sector entities have stepped up to meet the challenge with additional support for governments, employees, customers, and the communities in which they operate—often crafted with impressive creativity and remarkable speed. The Global Finance Crisis Leadership program honours these heroes for their exceptional efforts.” Joseph D. Giarraputo, Publisher and Editorial Director of Global Finance

The COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed the world (countries under lockdown, economic catastrophe, social life interrupted, …). A lot has been achieved over the past 9 months, but the future is still uncertain.

“At the start of the pandemic (even before the government lockdowns in each country) and throughout the following months we have had 2 clear priorities: to ensure that all members of Orbian staff are able to execute their work within environments that they, as individuals, feel safe; and to ensure that our clients continue to receive the highest standards of service from Orbian”, said Thomas Dunn, Chairman at Orbian.

The pandemic forced us to think very quickly and very fundamentally about what is meant by “Continuity of Business” and how to manage such disruptions. Putting the focus on our employees well-being and ability to work remotely was essential as it was the key to support our clients and their suppliers and to provide them with uninterrupted service and funding.

Our efforts focused around 3 main areas:

  1. Ensuring that everyone had the physical resources as well as management supervision and support to be able to perform their duties
  2. Communication about Orbian’s strong financial position and on-going resilience of performance in order to alleviate concerns about job security/risk of furlough
  3. Continuous group attention to well-being questions with regular activities and team support

“Let’s be very proud of everything that we have done so far at Orbian but recognize that the race is not yet over. We need to stay very concentrated”, Tom concluded.
